Ages & Stages
Whether you are 7 years old, 17 years old or 57 years old, we believe that everyone deserves a beautiful smile. Regardless of age, we can help provide a treatment plan that is right for you.
Phase 1 (Early Intervention Orthodontic Treatment)
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child have a check-up with an orthodontic specialist no later than age 7. While most children will not need treatment at this early age, there are certain conditions that can greatly benefit from early intervention. At this early age, we are able to correct tooth eruption issues, jaw growth imbalances and traumatic occlusions. In most cases, early treatment can reduce the need for extractions of permanent teeth and can make later comprehensive treatment much easier.
Adolescent Treatment
By age 12, most- if not all- of the permanent teeth have erupted and are in place, and crowding, gaps and bad bites can easily be detected. These problems do not tend to self-correct and usually worsen with age. In addition, adolescents are growing rapidly and orthodontists can take advantage of this growth to help shape the bite and teeth correctly.
Adult Treatment
Over one third of our patients are adults! Adults are benefiting from the recent advances and new technologies of orthodontic treatment. With today’s options, we can minimize the appearance of braces. We offer mini brackets, clear cosmetic braces, and Invisalign®. These new techniques and materials have made wearing braces more comfortable than ever. Orthodontic treatment can create an optimum foundation for future dental work. Dr. Moin will work closely with your dentist to produce the best functional and esthetic results.
Orthodontic treatment in adults can also be for purely cosmetic reasons – to straighten crooked teeth or close unwanted spaces and give you that healthy and beautiful smile you always wanted.
